On October 11, our middle school students went to an Edo style cut glass factory in Asakusa to carve traditional patterns on their own drinking glasses. They also visited a Drum Museum, where a variety of drums from around the world were displayed.
On October 10 the Japanese program invited high school students to a day at the seaside. Ms. Kimoto arranged for us to tour Tokyo Sea Life Park within Kasai Rinkai Park.
Our new and existing parents took part in our Parent Teacher Social, which was a chance for everyone to get to know each other in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There was a delicious selection of food and drink and all involved had a very positive experience.
Students in grades 5 - 8 had a memorable and fun three day excursion to Uenomura, Gunma in September. Our tried-and-true location allowed the older students who had visited before guide the first timers in expectations.
The high school students spent three fun packed days in Chiba at the Discover Japan camp in Nanbo. They enjoyed three days of bodysurfing and beach games and ate barbecued chicken burgers and quesadillas at night followed by s’mores.
On Friday October 6th, ISS students and staff went to the Meguro Chuo Gym to participate in this year’s first Sports Day. Everyone wore their sports clothes all day and after lunch, the “Dog Team” left early to set up all the equipment in the gym.
